General Questions

  • How soon can I walk on my carpets after cleaning?

The average dry time is between 12 to 24 hours, depending on the type of carpet, time of year, humidity level, and how much soil was in your carpet. The more soil in your carpet, the more water and cleaning solution we’ll have to use. We do provide waterproof booties upon request. It doesn’t hurt to walk on the carpet immediately after cleaning, but it is important to understand that a slightly damp carpet will attract soil.

  • How much will it cost to clean my carpets?

Like most carpet cleaning companies, we charge by square footage. If you’d like us to give you an exact price over the phone, we’ll need to know the exact area of the space we’ll be cleaning. We’re happy to have our inspector come by to give you a no-obligation estimate and address any concerns you may have. Absolute Carpet Care provides this service free of charge.

  • How often should I get my carpets professionally cleaned?

Manufacturers recommend that carpets should be professionally cleaned every six to 18 months. In fact, some manufacturers require professional steam cleaning, like Absolute Carpet Care’s hot water extraction method, on a regular basis to maintain your warranty.

  • Should I reapply Maxim Advanced when I have my carpets cleaned?

Yes, reapplication is recommended in high-traffic areas. Regular household mishaps, like dirt and spills, can contribute to the gradual wearing off of your carpet’s protectant. Cleaning alone will not remove Maxim Advanced. Reapplication will keep your carpets resistant to stains and easy to clean!

  • How should I prepare for my carpets to be cleaned?

You only need to remove small breakables from the area. Our cleaning technicians can move most furniture and put it back in its original location afterward. Additional charges may apply. Don't trust just any of the carpet cleaning companies in VA, give Absolute Carpet Care a call today!

  • Should I be concerned about chemical or detergent residue remaining in my carpet?

Not with Absolute Carpet Care! Some cleaners use a soapy detergent that leaves residue behind. We use safe, biodegradable detergent pre-spray, followed by a textile rinse that leaves the carpet virtually residue free. Less residue means less soiling later on!

  • I had someone out already and they said it couldn’t be cleaned. What should I do?

We have great news for you! Absolute Carpet Care isn’t your average carpet cleaner. With our exclusive hot water extraction method and a wide array of stain removers, we can tackle nearly any carpet problem.

  • How long will it take for my carpet to dry?

It usually takes between eight to 12 hours for your carpet to dry. As one of the top carpet cleaning companies in VA, we can answer any questions you have about carpet care. Call us today!

  • What method of cleaning do you use to clean the carpet?

Like most carpet cleaning companies, we use hot water extraction to clean carpets. According to Bob Vila, homeowners should get their carpet cleaned at least once a year to help it last longer, so be sure to reach out to us today!

  • What areas do you serve?

As one of the top carpet cleaning companies around, we service most of Northern Virginia.

Carpet Protectant Questions

  • Why should I always get Carpet Protectant?

    • It boosts your reaction time. Maxim Advanced’s enhanced protection gives you extra time to see and treat stains, reducing the chance of spills becoming permanent stains. A great-looking carpet can be ruined by an ugly spot.
    • Unprotected carpet doesn’t repel spillage as well as protected carpet. When you’re able to remove dirt and spills more effectively, you avoid permanent stains.
    • It helps save your high-traffic areas from becoming destroyed. The soil in high-traffic areas is very abrasive and cuts carpet yarns like a knife. This damaging soil can easily bond to an unprotected carpet. With a protected carpet, soils release from the carpet pile much more effectively. By applying protectant, you can dramatically increase the life of your carpet.
    • It makes spots easier to remove. The easier a spot is to remove, the less cleaner you will have to use. The more agitation you use, the less time it will take. On a protected carpet, many spots can be removed with water.
    • It makes your next professional cleaning more effective. Having protectant applied to your carpet allows more soil to be removed, which will enhance your next cleaning.
    • It helps avoid costly service calls. Although some jobs do require a professional, carpet protectant helps you remove more spots on your own. This helps save you money!

We stand behind the performance of our carpet protectants with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not happy with your protectant, we’ll provide a full refund, no questions asked.

  • My carpet has a factory protectant, do I need your carpet protectant?

Yes, because factory protectant is removed from your carpet in one of two ways:

    • Regular foot traffic: The factory-applied protectant will wear down in about six months to two years, depending on the amount of traffic it receives. If you’re noticing that your carpet is getting and staying dirtier than you’re used to, it’s time to reapply a protectant.
    • High alkaline cleaner: Many cleaners use harsh chemicals on your carpet, which lifts away protectant as well as dirt and soil. If you have had your carpet cleaned in the past, there is a good chance the cleaner removed a significant amount of protectant.

Upholstery Cleaning Questions

  • What if the tag on my upholstery says dry clean only?

Many manufacturers say that their upholstered products are dry clean only, and it simply isn’t true. There are thousands of types of upholstery, and only a very small percentage needs to be dry-cleaned. With the right pH solution, heat, and quick drying time, most upholstery can be cleaned safely. If your upholstery is truly dry clean only, we’re happy to take care of it.

  • How long will it take for my upholstery to dry?

Because we use high-speed fans to speed up the dry time, it’s usually dry by the time we leave your home.

  • Will you use a special protectant to protect my upholstered furniture from spills and wear?

Yes! For upholstered furniture, we use a solvent-based protectant rather than a water-based protectant. In addition to preventing water spots and browning, this different formulation allows the protectant to spread evenly and protect every inch of your upholstery.

Leather Cleaning Questions

  • My leather furniture doesn’t look dirty. Do I still need to maintain it?

Absolute Carpet Care recommends cleaning and conditioning your leather every 12 to 18 months. Even when your leather is rarely used, the oils in your leather will dry out and evaporate. Replenishing these oils, as well as occasionally cleaning the leather, will protect it for years to come.

  • Will your process work on my car interior, as well as my leather furniture?

Yes! Your car’s leather interior takes a lot of abuse from the sun, water, and dirt. Absolute Carpet Care’s cleaning and conditioning process will help your interior last as long as your car.

  • Do carpet and fabric protectants really work?

If a protectant is applied properly, it can add years to your carpet’s life. Just like wax can protect the finish on your car or hardwood floors, fabric protectants protect the finish of your carpet fibers. A protectant treatment can prevent a stain from becoming permanent, as well as help your carpet stay cleaner longer.

  • Is it true that the air in my home contains more pollutants than the outdoor air?

It can be. Pollutants like pollen, fungus, car exhaust, bacteria, cigarette smoke, and hundreds of other chemicals are carried into your home on your family’s clothing, skin, hair, and shoes. All these pollutants end up in your carpet and in the air you breathe. Keeping your carpets clean will keep your home’s indoor air quality healthy and safe.
